Product Description

304 316 316L 2205 Stainless Steel Sanitary Pipe | ERW Welded BA Tubing
Our 304, 316, 316L and 2205 stainless steel sanitary pipes are designed for industries where corrosion resistance, hygienic surfaces and reliable fabrication performance are essential. Manufactured as welded ERW tubing, these pipes can be supplied with a BA bright annealed surface and customized dimensions according to project requirements.
Stainless steel sanitary pipe is widely used for conveying food, beverages, pharmaceutical products, chemicals and other hygiene-sensitive materials. Its smooth stainless steel surface helps reduce contamination risks and makes the piping easier to clean and maintain.
The product range covers both standard and customized sizes, with welded pipe outer diameters from 6mm to 1200mm and thicknesses from approximately 0.5mm to 45mm, subject to grade, size and manufacturing method.
In addition to ERW production, we provide cutting and welding services to help customers obtain stainless steel pipe sections ready for further fabrication and installation.

Application Requirements
Piping systems used in food, beverage and pharmaceutical production require more than simple mechanical strength. The material must also withstand repeated cleaning, moisture, chemicals and demanding operating conditions while maintaining a suitable internal surface.
Conventional materials may experience:
  • Corrosion caused by moisture or aggressive media
  • Surface contamination and difficult cleaning
  • Reduced service life
  • Poor dimensional consistency
  • Difficult fabrication or installation
  • Increased maintenance requirements
In sanitary applications, inappropriate pipe material or surface condition can also make it more difficult to maintain hygienic production conditions. For this reason, manufacturers need stainless steel tubing with an appropriate alloy grade, surface finish, dimensional tolerance and fabrication method.
Our Solution
Our stainless steel sanitary pipe range provides a combination of corrosion resistance, durability, clean surface quality and processing flexibility.
Austenitic grades such as 304 and 316L are commonly selected for food, beverage and pharmaceutical equipment, while 316/316L can be considered when improved corrosion resistance is required. 2205 duplex stainless steel provides higher strength and enhanced corrosion resistance for applications requiring these properties.
The available solutions include:
  • 304 / 316 / 316L / 2205 stainless steel
  • ERW welded construction
  • Round sanitary tubing and customized shapes
  • BA bright annealed surface
  • 2B, No.4, HL and 8K surfaces
  • Cutting and welding services
  • Customized length and dimensions
  • ASTM, AISI, EN, DIN, GB, JIS and ISO standards
  • Standard seaworthy export packaging
  • Theoretical-weight invoicing available
This allows the pipe to be supplied according to the specific requirements of processing plants, sanitary piping systems and industrial equipment.

Main Applications Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Bio-Medical Industries
Industry Applications
Food Processing: 304 and 316L stainless steel sanitary pipes are commonly used in food-processing production lines, liquid transfer systems, storage equipment and processing machinery. The smooth surface and corrosion resistance make stainless steel suitable for hygienic environments.
Beverage Production: Stainless steel sanitary tubing can be used in beverage processing, water treatment, filling systems and liquid transportation. BA and other smooth finishes can support cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Pharmaceutical Industry: 316L stainless steel is widely considered for pharmaceutical and biotechnology equipment where corrosion resistance, cleanability and controlled material quality are important.
Chemical Processing: Depending on the chemical medium and operating conditions, 316L, 2205 and higher-alloy stainless steels can provide suitable corrosion resistance for selected chemical processing systems.
Bio-Medical Equipment: Stainless steel sanitary tubing can be incorporated into equipment and piping systems used in biomedical and laboratory-related applications, subject to the applicable material and hygiene standards.
Industrial Piping: Stainless steel welded pipe is also suitable for general industrial applications requiring corrosion resistance, mechanical durability and customized fabrication.
Technical Operation
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel sanitary pipe primarily comes from its alloy composition. Chromium in stainless steel forms a thin passive oxide layer when exposed to oxygen. This protective layer helps prevent the underlying metal from continuously reacting with the surrounding environment.
The manufacturing process also affects pipe performance. During ERW production, stainless steel strip is formed into a cylindrical shape and the edges are joined using an electric resistance welding process. The welded tube is then processed to achieve the required dimensions and surface condition.
For BA stainless steel pipe, controlled annealing is used to produce a bright and clean surface. This type of finish is particularly attractive for applications where surface appearance and cleanliness are important.
For sanitary piping, the overall performance is determined by: Material grade + pipe manufacturing process + weld quality + surface finish + dimensional control
Correct selection of all these factors helps ensure that the finished pipe is suitable for its intended operating environment.
Selection Guide
1. Select the Stainless Steel Grade
The first step is to determine the required corrosion resistance, strength and fabrication characteristics.
  • 304: General-purpose stainless steel with good corrosion resistance and formability
  • 316: Improved corrosion resistance compared with 304, particularly in many chloride-containing environments
  • 316L: Low-carbon version of 316, commonly selected for welded equipment and sanitary applications
  • 2205: Duplex stainless steel offering high strength and enhanced corrosion resistance
  • 2507: Super duplex grade for more demanding corrosive environments
  • 904L: High-alloy stainless steel for highly corrosive applications
The final material should be selected according to the actual medium, temperature, pressure and applicable industry standard.
2. Select Welded or Seamless Construction
ERW welded pipe can provide an economical solution for many large-diameter and sanitary piping applications. Seamless pipe may be preferred where the project specification requires seamless construction or particular pressure-service characteristics.
3. Choose the Surface Finish
BA is suitable when a bright, smooth appearance is required. 2B is a common cold-rolled finish for general applications. No.4 and HL can be selected for decorative or architectural requirements, while 8K provides a highly polished appearance.
For sanitary service, the actual required internal roughness and polishing specification should be confirmed rather than selecting a surface finish based only on its visual appearance.
4. Confirm Dimensions
Provide the required outer diameter, wall thickness and length. Customized sizes can be discussed according to production capability and order quantity.
5. Consider the Fabrication Process
If the pipe will be cut, welded, bent or assembled into a larger system, confirm the required processing method before production. This helps ensure that the selected grade and dimensions are compatible with the final fabrication process.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What stainless steel grades are commonly used for sanitary pipe?
The most common grades include 304, 316 and 316L. Duplex grades such as 2205 and other high-alloy materials can also be supplied when the application requires higher strength or enhanced corrosion resistance.
2. Is 316L stainless steel suitable for pharmaceutical applications?
316L is widely used in pharmaceutical and hygienic equipment because of its corrosion resistance and suitability for welded fabrication. However, the exact material, surface roughness and cleaning requirements should be confirmed according to the applicable pharmaceutical standard and process.
3. What is the difference between BA and 2B stainless steel pipe?
BA (Bright Annealed) generally has a brighter and more reflective appearance, while 2B is a smooth cold-rolled finish with a less reflective surface. The correct finish depends on the required appearance and technical specification.
4. Can the stainless steel pipe be cut to customized lengths?
Yes. Cutting services are available, and pipe lengths can be supplied according to the customer's requirements, subject to the applicable production range.
5. Can you provide welding services?
Yes. We provide welding and cutting services for stainless steel pipes. Welding requirements, dimensions and applicable standards should be confirmed before production.
