Product Description
Sylaith supplies ASTM A653 DX51D SGCC galvanized steel sheets manufactured through a hot-dip galvanizing process using cold-rolled steel as the base material. With a zinc coating ranging from AZ30 to AZ275 g/m², these GI steel sheets provide reliable corrosion resistance, good surface quality, and excellent processing performance.
Galvanized steel sheet is widely used in construction, roofing, automotive components, machinery manufacturing, and various industrial applications. The zinc coating protects the steel substrate from moisture and environmental exposure, helping extend its service life in different operating conditions.
Available in thicknesses from 0.3mm to 3.0mm, widths of 1000mm, 1220mm, and 1500mm, and customized lengths, our galvanized sheets can be supplied according to specific project requirements.
We offer different material grades, including DX51D, DX52D, SGCC, and other carbon steel grades, with regular spangle, minimal spangle, and zero spangle surface options.
Carbon steel has good mechanical strength and processing properties, but it is vulnerable to corrosion when exposed to air, moisture, rainwater, and other environmental factors.
During long-term outdoor use, untreated steel can develop rust and surface oxidation. This may reduce its structural reliability, increase maintenance costs, and shorten the service life of finished products.
For applications such as roofing panels, building structures, ventilation systems, and industrial equipment, corrosion protection is an important consideration.
Hot-dip galvanizing provides an effective solution by applying a protective zinc coating to the steel surface.
Hot-dip galvanized steel sheet combines the mechanical properties of a steel substrate with the corrosion protection of a zinc coating.
Our DX51D and SGCC galvanized steel sheets offer several practical advantages:
- Corrosion Resistance: The zinc coating acts as a protective barrier against moisture and environmental exposure.
- Good Formability: DX51D galvanized steel is suitable for bending, profiling, stamping, and general sheet metal fabrication.
- Multiple Zinc Coating Options: Available zinc coating weights from 30 to 275 g/m², depending on the required specification.
- Flexible Surface Finishes: Regular spangle, minimized spangle, and zero spangle options are available.
- Customized Dimensions: Different thicknesses, widths, and lengths can be supplied according to customer requirements.
- Wide Application Range: Suitable for roofing, construction, machinery, automotive components, and hardware manufacturing.
Depending on the selected grade, coating thickness, and processing conditions, galvanized steel can meet different requirements for durability and fabrication.

Galvanized steel sheet is widely used in industries where corrosion protection, formability, and cost-effective material performance are required.
Galvanized steel sheets are commonly used for roofing panels, wall cladding, roof decking, ceiling systems, and building accessories. Their zinc coating helps protect the steel from rainwater and atmospheric corrosion.
GI steel sheets are used in selected automotive body components, brackets, reinforcement parts, and other formed metal components. The material grade and coating requirements depend on the specific manufacturing process.
Galvanized steel is suitable for equipment housings, machine covers, ventilation ducts, electrical cabinets, and industrial enclosures.
Galvanized steel sheets can be processed into washing machine components, refrigerator panels, air-conditioning housings, and other appliance parts.
With good processing flexibility, galvanized steel can be used for metal brackets, storage systems, protective covers, frames, and various hardware accessories.
GI steel sheets are also used in fences, agricultural buildings, outdoor equipment housings, and other structures requiring additional corrosion protection.
Hot-dip galvanizing is a surface treatment process in which steel is coated with a layer of molten zinc to improve corrosion resistance.
The production process generally includes the following steps:
The cold-rolled steel substrate is cleaned to remove oil, dirt, rust, and other surface impurities. This helps ensure proper adhesion between the steel and zinc coating.
The steel strip passes through a controlled heating process to achieve the required metallurgical properties and prepare the surface for galvanizing.
The steel strip passes through a molten zinc bath. A zinc layer forms on the steel surface, providing corrosion protection.
High-pressure air knives remove excess molten zinc and control the final coating weight according to the required specification.
The galvanized strip is cooled and may receive additional surface treatments, such as passivation or oiling, depending on customer requirements.
The finished galvanized steel is inspected for thickness, width, zinc coating weight, surface quality, and other specified properties before being cut, packed, and shipped.
The zinc coating protects the steel through two main mechanisms:
- Barrier Protection: The zinc layer separates the steel substrate from moisture and oxygen.
- Sacrificial Protection: Zinc is more electrochemically active than iron, so it corrodes preferentially and provides additional protection to exposed steel areas under suitable conditions.
Choosing the correct galvanized steel sheet requires consideration of the application, processing method, environmental conditions, and required service life.
- DX51D: Commonly used for general forming and bending applications.
- DX52D: Suitable for applications requiring improved drawing properties compared with general forming grades.
- SGCC: A commonly specified galvanized steel grade under JIS G3302.
- SPCC: A cold-rolled base steel designation, not automatically equivalent to a galvanized grade.
Thickness selection depends on the structural strength, forming requirements, and final product design. Thinner sheets are commonly used for light fabrication, while thicker sheets are suitable for more demanding components.
The zinc coating weight is an important factor affecting corrosion protection.
- Z30–Z60: For relatively mild environments and selected indoor applications.
- Z80–Z120: For general-purpose applications with moderate corrosion protection requirements.
- Z180–Z275: For applications requiring a higher level of zinc coating protection.
The appropriate coating should be selected according to the actual environment and applicable standard.
- Regular Spangle: Traditional galvanized surface appearance.
- Minimized Spangle: Smaller and more uniform spangle pattern.
- Zero Spangle: Smooth appearance without visible traditional spangle patterns.
If the material will undergo bending, stamping, punching, or roll forming, confirm the required mechanical properties and temper before placing an order.
ASTM A653, EN 10346, JIS G3302, and GB/T 2518 have different grade designations and technical requirements. Always confirm the exact material grade, coating designation, and inspection requirements rather than assuming that different standards are directly interchangeable.
DX51D is a galvanized steel grade specified under EN 10346, while SGCC is a grade specified under JIS G3302. Both are commonly used for general applications, but their chemical composition, mechanical properties, and technical requirements are defined by different standards. They should not be considered automatically interchangeable.
Z275 refers to a nominal total zinc coating mass of 275 g/m² on both sides of the steel sheet combined. It is commonly selected for applications requiring a relatively high zinc coating weight.
Yes. Galvanized steel sheet is widely used in outdoor construction, roofing, fences, and equipment housings. However, its service life depends on the zinc coating weight, environmental conditions, exposure to pollutants, and maintenance requirements. Additional protection may be necessary in marine or highly corrosive environments.
Yes. Galvanized steel sheets can be processed through cutting, bending, punching, and welding. Processing parameters should be adjusted according to material thickness, grade, and coating requirements. Appropriate ventilation and fume control are particularly important during welding because zinc-containing fumes can be hazardous.
